Training course “From landscape to Isotopes: Study of Human Remains in Modern Interdisciplinary Archaeological Research”

We are announcing the “From landscape to Isotopes: Study of Human Remains in Modern Interdisciplinary Archaeological Research” training course, which will take place from December 17-18, 2025 at the Mummification Museum in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Luxor, Egypt. 

The two-day training is organized by the Slovenian hub of the European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science E-RIHS.SI in cooperation with the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt, Bibliotheca Alexandrina (Egypt), the Slovenian-Egyptian Heritage Science Platform (SloveNile), the National Network of Science Centers and Museums in Egypt (Sci-Her), and international partners and sponsors (including REINSHAW apply innovation).

As part of the strategic partnership between Slovenia and Egypt in the field of heritage science, the course will build competence in scientific techniques used in bioarchaeology and help developing understanding of bioarchaeological research potential and deepen attendees’ understanding of the scientific value of mummified bodies and human remains as well as archaeological landscape, emphasizing isotopic analysis and micro-computed tomography (µCT) scanning techniques and other techniques..

The workshop is intended for conservators, conservation scientists, archaeologists, and heritage scientist and postgraduate students.
